This class will focus on basic design elements that will help the student compose completed paintings. Students are required to supply their own materials for class. Materials list is as follows; One set of oil paints with at least ten colors (reeves makes an inexpensive set of 24 colors) Canvas or Canvas boards at least 11x14 inches or larger metal pallet knife Pallet glass 12x14 from hardware or glass store. A small assortment of brushes hog bristle filbert #3,#6 and a small #0 sable or synthetic Sablea small Sketch book.
In the tradition of the impressionist we will chose a local site and meet there for a total of 12 hours (4 three hour classes). In that time we will start and complete a single painting on site learning how to deal with color, perspective, and proportion in a natural light setting. Painting outdoors from life is one of the best ways to improve your color and will advance your skills in all other aspects of your painting.
