Intaglio - Copper Plate etch printing, Aquatint & Mezzotint
This class will focus on the aquatint and mezzotint techniques of intaglio printmaking. Students will be required to purchase disposable gloves, copper plates and paper on their own. The studio will provide instruction, printing press, intaglio inks, etchant, tools, and various other materials.
Students will need to bring the following materials with them.
Copper Etching Plate – either a 4x6 or a 6x8 size will be okay for beginning. You don’t want to go too large in size when your learning.
Printmaking paper – BFK Rives 80lb - 130 lbs will be fine. These come in large sheets, we will cut them down. 2 sheets should be enough for several prints.
One box disposable gloves.
